I have been building sites since 2001 and encountered an enjoyable but steep and directionless learning curve along the way. There are so many ways they can be made and many, many more things to consider.

Over the years, the way websites are built has changed and the software used for creating them has evolved. What could only be achieved (back then) by technical hand coding can now be accomplished quickly and tech-free, with easy-to-use, point and click software.

This "progress" however, often disguises false economy and poor practices that lead to maintenance, scalability, accessibility and extensibility issues or impact on your website's chances of success in other ways, doing more harm than good.
